Donation Terms and Privacy Policy

2. Scope
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern voluntary donations provided to Mekomot Slovakia, o.z. via www.mekomotslovakia.org and other supported payment methods.
3. Nature of Donations
- Donations are voluntary gifts, not part of a registered public collection under Act No. 162/2014 Coll. on Public Collections.
- Donors acknowledge that no goods or services are provided in return.
- By donating, the donor expressly confirms agreement with these Terms.
4. Use of Donations
All contributions will be used exclusively for:
- restoration and maintenance of Jewish cemeteries,
- research and documentation of Jewish cultural heritage,
- educational and cultural activities in accordance with the association’s statutes.
By donating, the donor agrees to this use of funds.
5. Donation Methods
Donations may be made via: PayPal, Stripe (credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay), bank transfer (EUR account in Slovakia), and Wise (USD, CAD, GBP, AUD, EUR).
By donating, the donor agrees to processing through the chosen provider.
6. Receipts
Receipts will be issued on request, in EUR; foreign currency donations will be recorded with EUR equivalents.
By donating, the donor accepts this condition.
7. Refund Policy
- Donations are generally non-refundable.
- Refunds are only possible in cases of duplicate payment, technical error, or unauthorised transaction.
- Requests must be submitted within 14 days to office@mekomotslovakia.org.

8. Privacy & GDPR
- Controller
The controller is Mekomot Slovakia, o.z.
By donating, the donor agrees to processing by the controller.
- Scope of data
Name, email, payment details (via PayPal, Stripe, Wise, bank), donation amount, and optional note.
By donating, the donor agrees to this processing.
- Purpose of processing
Accounting and record-keeping of donations, issuing receipts, communication with donors, and compliance with legal duties (Act No. 431/2002 Coll. on Accounting, Act No. 346/2018 Coll. on Foreign Support).
By donating, the donor agrees to these purposes.
- Legal basis
Processing relies on:
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – consent of the donor, e.g. for optional communication or processing beyond statutory requirements.
- Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR – compliance with legal obligations, e.g. mandatory accounting retention for 10 years, foreign support disclosure duties.
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests of the controller, e.g. preventing fraud, ensuring security, protecting legal claims.
By donating, the donor agrees to these legal bases.
- Processors
PayPal, Stripe, Wise, and banking institutions.
By donating, the donor agrees to processing by these third parties.
- Retention periods
- Accounting and donation records: 10 years.
- Email communication: 3 years from last contact.
- Consent-based data: until consent is withdrawn.
By donating, the donor agrees to these periods.
- Donor rights
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, complaint to the Slovak Data Protection Authority.
By donating, the donor confirms they have been informed of these rights.
- Transfer outside EU
PayPal and Wise may transfer data outside the EU (notably USA and UK). Transfers are based on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
By donating, the donor explicitly consents to such transfers.
- Data security
Mekomot Slovakia, o.z. applies appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data.
By donating, the donor acknowledges and agrees to this.
9. Transparency
The organisation will label itself as a “foreign-funded organisation” if annual foreign donations exceed €5,000, in accordance with Act No. 346/2018 Coll.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic. Disputes fall under Slovak courts.
11. Legal obligations & donor consent
- Accounting per Act No. 431/2002 Coll.
- Foreign support disclosure per Act No. 346/2018 Coll.
- By donating, the donor confirms awareness of these obligations and consents.
12. Limitation of liability
- The organisation is not responsible for outages of PayPal, Stripe, or Wise.
- No guarantee is provided that donations are tax-deductible under donor’s jurisdiction.
13. Severability
If any provision is invalid, the rest remain in force.
14. Effective date
These Terms are effective as of 26/09/2025.
