2. Scope

These Donation Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern the method and rules for making voluntary monetary donations to Mekomot Slovakia, o.z. (the “Association”), via www.mekomotslovakia.org and other supported payment methods.


3. Nature of the Donation

  1. Monetary contributions made to the Association are voluntary donations and are provided without entitlement to any consideration.
  2. A donation is not a “purchase of a service” or a “purchase of a product”.
  3. By submitting a donation, the donor confirms that they have read and agree to these Terms.
  4. The donor declares that the donation is made from their own funds and that making the donation does not violate the laws applicable in the donor’s country.

4. Purpose of Use

The Association uses received donations exclusively for activities in accordance with its statutes, in particular:

  • restoration, maintenance, and protection of Jewish cemeteries,
  • documentation and research of Jewish cultural heritage,
  • educational and cultural activities related to Jewish history and heritage.

5. Donation Methods

Donations may be made via:

  • Stripe (payment card, Apple Pay, Google Pay),
  • PayPal,
  • bank transfer (EUR account),
  • Wise services (in EUR, GBP, USD, CAD, AUD).

The donor acknowledges that payment intermediaries may charge their own fees and that their terms are governed by the rules of the relevant provider and the donor’s bank.


6. Donation Receipt / Confirmation

  1. Upon the donor’s request, the Association will issue a confirmation of the received donation (e.g., for the donor’s records).
  2. Requests may be sent to office@mekomotslovakia.org.
  3. The Association may request necessary details to issue the confirmation (e.g., name, payment date, amount, currency, transaction identifier).

7. Refunds

  1. Donations are generally non-refundable, as they are voluntary contributions without consideration.
  2. The Association may refund a donation in particular in cases of:
    • duplicate payment,
    • technical error in the transaction,
    • unauthorized payment (once substantiated).
  3. A refund request must be sent to office@mekomotslovakia.org within 14 days of the payment date and should include available transaction details.
  4. If the payment was made through a payment intermediary, the refund may also proceed through that provider’s process (e.g., chargeback), which may affect timing and method.

8. Personal Data Protection (GDPR)

8.1 Data Controller

8.2 Categories of Data

  • donor’s name and surname,
  • email address (if provided by the donor),
  • donation amount and currency,
  • transaction information (e.g., payment identifier),
  • optional: donor’s note or message.

The Association does not process special categories of personal data unless the donor voluntarily provides them in a message.

8.3 Purposes of Processing

  • recordkeeping and administration of donations,
  • communication with the donor (e.g., confirmation, responding to questions),
  • accounting and compliance with legal obligations,
  • fraud prevention and misuse protection.

8.4 Legal Bases

  • compliance with a legal obligation (especially accounting requirements),
  • legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, protection of legal claims),
  • consent – only where required (e.g., if the donor explicitly requests publication of their name as a donor).

8.5 Third Parties (Payment Providers)

Payment data are processed primarily by payment service providers (Stripe, PayPal, Wise, bank). These providers process data under their own terms and may act as independent controllers. The Association receives only the information necessary for donation records and communication.

8.6 Retention Period

  • data related to accounting and donation records: for the period required by applicable law,
  • email correspondence: up to 3 years unless needed longer (e.g., for legal claims),
  • data processed based on consent: until consent is withdrawn or the purpose is fulfilled.

8.7 Donor Rights

The donor has the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and to lodge a complaint with the Slovak Data Protection Authority.

8.8 Transfers Outside the EU/EEA

When using payment services, personal data may be transferred outside the EU/EEA depending on the provider’s settings and rules. Donors are advised to review the privacy policies of the chosen payment provider.


9. Ethical Principles and Donation Restrictions

  1. The Association is apolitical and does not accept donations that could compromise its independence, impartiality, or reputation.
  2. The Association reserves the right to refuse or return a donation if there is reasonable suspicion that:
    • the donation is connected to unlawful activity,
    • the donation is provided as consideration or an “exchange” for an advantage,
    • accepting the donation could harm the Association’s good name.
  3. For higher amounts, the Association may request additional information necessary for internal transparency and safety assessment.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic. Any disputes shall be resolved by the competent Slovak courts.


11. Limitation of Liability

  1. The Association is not liable for technical outages or errors of third-party services (payment gateways, banks).
  2. The Association does not guarantee that a donation will be tax-deductible in the donor’s country.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain valid and effective.


13. Effective Date

These Donation Terms & Conditions are effective as of 26 September 2025.
